Art Fundamentals with Nicola at Puddleduck

About This Event

Hi! My name's Nicola and I love teaching adults how to draw and paint what they see. No experience is necessary as we'll start with the absolute basics in a relaxed, friendly environment at the gorgeous Puddleduck Vineyard in Richmond.

Art Fundamentals is an 8 week beginners art course for adults where you'll take time to nurture your creativity, learn new skills and connect with others who value doing the same.

In the first 3 sessions, you'll learn how to draw with graphite pencils. I'll show you ways to create a pleasing composition and you'll choose a landscape scene that you'd like to work with for the duration of the course. This could be inspired by an existing photo or a new photo that you take with the assignment in mind.

Each class will build on the one before it and with your newfound drawing skills, you'll create a tonal drawing of your chosen composition. This drawing (aka "study" in artist speak) will help prepare you for your final acrylic painting.

In the second part of the course, you'll learn how to mix and use colour effectively and how to paint with acrylic paints.

By the end of the 8 weeks, you'll finish with your own acrylic painting on a stretched canvas ready to hang on your wall, new skills to continue building and hopefully you'll have made some extra friends along the way!

I have a degree in Visual Arts (acrylic painting), close to a decade of experience in education and it lights me up when I witness those "aha!" moments as students master the techniques I've shown them and find their own creative flow.

You'll soon be looking at the world through a slightly different lens and will probably surprise yourself at what you're able to achieve with a little "know-how". I'd love to have you come along on the journey!

Class dates & times (8 Wednesdays):

16th, 23rd, 30th Oct & 6th Nov (11:15am - 1:15pm) -2hrs

13th, 20th, 27th Nov & 4th Dec (10:15am - 1:15pm) -3hrs

Price includes:

• All art materials

• A light lunch of your choice with every class (soup, gourmet toasties, platters, etc.)

• 20 hours of tuition with lots of personalised help

$450 per person + booking fee. Limited places and bookings are essential.

 

Cancellation policy:

Tickets may be refunded in full (minus booking fee) up until 7 days prior to the course starting. After this point, tickets may still be transferred to another person up until commencement of the course.
