The Centre for Aboriginal Independence and Enterprise is proud to invite you to the 6th National Aboriginal Press Club event, in Meanjin (Brisbane).

What a year it’s going to be for Queensland. The upcoming state election is a flip of a coin at the moment with the LNP openly suggesting that they will repeal the Path to Treaty legislation. We will have one of the Co-Chairs with us to talk about Queensland’s Path to Treaty.

SPECIAL GUEST: Mick Gooda

Mick Gooda comes from the Gangalu Yiman people of Central Queensland. He has spent a lot of his life working as a senior public servant in areas such as housing, health and native title and most recently was the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner. He was Co-Chair of the Treaty Advancement Committee and is now Co-Chair of the Interim Truth and Treaty Body.

MC: Judy Spence

Judy Spence was the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Minister in the Beattie Government for six years. She established the groundbreaking Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women’s Taskforce to investigate violence. She was responsible for introducing Alcohol Management plans in Aboriginal communities. She is recently involved in environmental activities on the Gold Coast.
