Registrations are now open to join Amarli's Army - Trek for Amarli

Become a member of Amarli's Army and join us on the stunning 35km coastal walk from Stanwell Park to Wollongong harbour, passing by Wollongong Hospital, with final destination and celebration at Wiseman Park Bowling Club.

Amarli was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder at just 8 months of age, called GRIK 2 (1 of only 3 recorded cases in the world). This rare condition has profoundly affected Amarli's quality of life, health, and development. She regulary has seizures due to her epilepsy, her lack of strength mean that even common colds and viruses can involve prolonged hospital stays, her fine motor and gross  motor skills are affected, her inability to walk, speak and eat along with severe breathing difficulties mean that she requires require 24/7 care.

Sadly Amarli's lung function has deteriorated over the past 12months to where she now suffers from chronic respiratory failure and is fully dependant on mechanical ventilation. After a recent very long and traumatic six-month admission at Sydney Childrens Hospital Randwick, doctors have said that this will not improve. They have advised she will have a shortened life span. 

But every day, Amarli continues to show us how strong she is. She continues to fight and prove all the doubters wrong. In support of Amarli and her ongoing fight, her family will be walking from Sydney Kids to Wollongong Hospital, raising funds for both hospitals and Cure Grin Foundation.

On Sunday August 4th, Amarlis Army will join together with Amarli's family at Loaf Cafe Stanwell Park from 6:00am, as they continue their trek south from Sydney Kids Hospital for the final 35km.

For those unable to walk with us on the day, we would love you to join us at Wiseman Park Bowling Club on Sunday afternoon for the finish line celebration and special event. 

Most walkers will arrive at Wiseman Park Bowling Club from 2pm. (Follow the event page for updates on the day). Bring the whole family - there will be something for everyone - Live music, jumping castle, raffles and more! We need to keep the club updated on expected numbers for the after party, so please remember to select the FREE ticket event on the registration page if you are walking and than staying for the celebrations.
