The Yarra Valley Singers is an adult community choir based in Kilsyth, 35 kms east of Melbourne. It was established in 1988 with one un-auditioned ensemble rehearsing on Wednesday evenings. In 2018 a second un-auditioned ensemble commenced on Tuesday mornings, for people who prefer not to travel at night, but still want to sing good music with like-minded singers. A small auditioned, a cappella ensemble was added in 2023 to challenge our more advanced musicians who want to achieve a higher artistic standard and explore some less well-known repertoire.
Yarra Valley Singers performs regularly for community events including Citizenship and other municipal events, carols, and community arts projects. We have collaborated with other choirs and orchestras to perform major works including Handel’s Messiah, Orff’s Carmina Burana and Mendelssohn’s Elijah.
With hybrid rehearsals ( in person/online) and online recordings, our choir ensures seamless participation, keeping members connected even during absences due to illness or holidays, enabling them to integrate immediately upon their return.
